If you are a Facebook user and have a smartphone (Blackberry, Android or iPhone) it’s likely that you have forgotten that you also have a PC in your home or office. The reason is that most Facebook users spend more time connected with their cell phone than on their personal computers according to a study by comScore.
According to data compiled by comScore, the average Facebook user in USA spends 441 minutes of their time using their social network application on their smartphone and only spending 391 minutes on Facebook with their desktop or laptop. The ComScore study goes further, this phenomenon affects not only Facebook, but other social networks like Twitter, Foursquare and Pinterest who are now seeing longer usage times from their smartphones users than the ones who enter from their PCs. This also depends of how good is the mobile service provided, like for example from AT&T and Verizon which are the two biggest mobile providers in USA (more than 100 million users each). Could we access Facebook anywhere we go in the US with our smartphone?
The 25.6 million Twitter mobile users (excluding usage via third-party apps) had an average time of using of nearly 2 hours per month. On the contrary, the time of investing in Twitter.com on their computers is just 20.4 minutes, intensifying the importance of mobile engagement for mobile-centric brands.
Although data are from the U.S. public, the study seeks to begin to measure the standards of different countries to see the impact of applications for smartphones and see how social networks could do to attract even more computers desktop users to stay longer in social networks.
While comScore’s is one of the most important studies that raise our interaction with the web, it is important to highlight three aspects which seem to be left out the study: first cost or barrier to entry for social network is the need to a physical technological device (hardware), so it is much easier for a user to purchase a smartphone than a personal computer. The second important point is that every day more companies block access from their offices to social networks, a fact that requires its workers to access from points more personal and private, are like phones. The last point is not always within our reach a desktop computer or laptop, but we always have in our pockets or purses our phones.

People now use phones everywhere, there was time when we had just computers, I hate that people cannot spend good time without using or posting everything about what they do and I’m a bit scared of the future.
I found this article very interesting because it shows the reality of our world.
Every one that has a smart phone wants to be connected all day long to social networks, to be in touch with their friends by chatting, posting where they are, who they are with, uploading pictures etc. Wanting other people to know everything about their life.
As you say in the article, this occurs because of the easy way of using a smart phone for the reason that we always have it with us, it doesn’t matter where we are.
This article points out something interesting about today’s social life. It is true that wherever you go, you’ll see someone texting with his or her smartphone on a social network, almost unaware of what is happening around them. All the more disturbing is the fact that even when they people are together for a party or to chat, friends of the same social group are likely to be on their phone to see what’s going on, on the social networks as if they are worried about missing something.
It seems to me that this situation is due to lack of time. We consume content from our cells because it is easier and faster that way.
I strongly agree with the idea in that article. It is the fact that like the people around me,I also spent more of my time in smartphone rather than computer.I think the reason is your smartphone is always with you and you can contact your friends&family whenever you want. You can post something, share photo, get news etc.You both save your time and get in touch about everything. But of course people need to be careful because it may be addictive.
