Israeli start-up Modu mobile phones offers a set of independent components. The idea proposes a central component, which according to your needs, can be assembled with other components to add functions.
Thus, by inserting itself into an “envelope” (jacket), the phone turns into a game console, MP3 player or GPS for automobiles. Rather than buying each time a new device, just buy the envelopes adapted to the functions you need, say its promoters. The software will automatically reconfigure when the Modu is placed in another envelope and redefines each time how the components work together. The Modu is personal, but you can hand to lend “envelopes”, offer them as gifts, etc..
The touch screen keyboard can be detached for use independently or embedded in the pico (optional) to expand its field of vision.
The use cases are numerous: the touch screen, alone, can be used to do his jogging. On-line mode with the keyboard can be used with one hand in public transit during rush hour. The Bluetooth keyboard, which becomes a handset, can also check information on the screen during phone conversation. It is the user who chooses the combinations that best suit his desire of use.
