One of the important things in any Smartphone is game features. Each android or iOS owner is getting crazy about his games waiting for weeks for the release of new one. Somebody has chosen smart phone by only its capacity to support specific games or wide variety of it. So during the winter gossips about new playing smart phone by Sony Ericsson was in the air thanks to the promo actions or clever hackers…anyway everybody talked and thought about it.
So 14th February in the Barcelona all PSP and Sony Ericsson fans could see the absolutely new without any analog the first smart phone with slide-out gaming controls in the world. On Sony Ericsson opinion the Xperia Play has to combine functionality of advanced smart phone with game features of portable play station.
The Play offers the same features like another Xperia line with entertaining functions, 5.1-megapixel camera, 4-inch touchscreen and Android 2.3 Gingerbread running the show and easy access to social network. The Play’s headline feature is its slide-out gamepad. It slips out from beneath the screen just like the Qwerty keyboard on plenty of other smart phones and looks like the slider of the PSP Go. Inside the Play, there’s a 1GHz processor, which does a fine job of keeping everything ticking along.
Sony Ericsson has already partnership with the main players in the game industry and soon is able to have such famous games like Need For Speed, Sims 3 and the first in the world multiuser version FIFA 10, also there are Guitar Hero and Splinter Cell. All these news are making Xperia Play is one of desiring godsend for real game fan in this season, but is it really worth around 400 euro? Is it really so good?
Today it is possible to buy the Play in the Great Britain, Germany, Netherland, Switzerland, Sweden, Russia, Gong Hong
and Taiwan. And of course many users have started to share their feelings about new device and its bad side.
In fact not every game works well with the Play’s slide-out controls or the game description doesn’t match with slide–out buttons like in the pre-installed FIFA 10. Another question how does it work if somebody calls you? Not so well like expected. At best, you’ll be forced out of the game, but able to pick it up where you left off after your call is finished. At worst, you’ll be ejected from the game and have to resume from the point at which you last saved it. It’s like your mum pulling the plug out of your console.
Now you can see that new Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has not only amazing plusses, but also some very sad minuses. Could the Play become more popular than IPhone or another Android with gaming on the touchscreen? – Time will show.

I don’t think that the new Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be more popular than the iPhone. In my opinion, this is a phone addressing a niche market. Sony Ericsson won’t reach a lot of people with this phone like the iPhone does. Moreover I don’t think that it is a “natural” extension for a mobile phone to become a game play station… and maybe the phone battery will not last very long with such use of it.
